Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3
If a tree does not receive adequate water it will not be able to bear fruit, and eventually it will wither and die. So it is for the Christian who is not adequately watered by the Word of God. One must be planted by the stream of life-giving water. It is through daily meditation on the Word of God that the Christian is filled to overflowing and then able to produce fruit and thrive. The counsel of the wicked is void of refreshment. The way of sinners is an arid place. The seat of the scoffer is dry ground. Be planted in the Word of God. Delight in it. Meditate on it day and night, and be prosperous.
