Little Sir Galahad
$16.00
When the townspeople of Alverton look upon the little boy, they have adequate reason to call him “Poor David.” But he is perhaps wealthier than all who look upon him. His wealth is in the golden light of his smile and the richness of his mind. Though he longs to be physically strong, his friend Arthur teaches him that strength is not only in muscles and bones but also in strength of heart. Just like Sir Galahad of long ago, David’s strength is as the strength of ten because his heart is pure. His pure heart reaps great rewards as he grows to become a highly respected young man.

Character Building My three boys and I enjoy this story about a boy who accepts affliction in his life. He lets God use it to humble him, bring him into a right relationship with Him, and for his growth in Christ. My boys identify with the character’s thoughts about his sedentary situation, and so it’s easy to rejoice with him as things begin to take a happier turn. We’ve read it a couple times and I can’t help but tear up each time at the end. Some lessons learned: patience in studies, good penmanship, giving our best in all our work as unto the Lord, and concern for those around us.

Building Our Little Sir’s Character Once we started reading this story, it wasn’t but a few days that our six year old son started to display the characteristics that we so admired in the book. All unprompted by us, we noticed things like: stopping what he was doing and helping his big sister up (who fell) to sharing the biggest piece of food with his other sister (BIG sacrifice for him). Who knew… books could provide subliminal character building. 🙂 Thank you Lamplighter for your Book Club service.
