Bart Martin is expelled from school on the charge of stealing a priceless stamp—a  stamp he claims he didn’t steal. Why should he be degraded so unjustly, and by the most hated headmaster in the school to top it off! The world is so cruel!

Having lost his friends, been rejected by his proud old grandfather, and with anger and bitterness welling in his soul, Bart must move to Scotland to live with his hardworking and faithful mother.
