Betty’s curious and adventurous nature often leads her into scrapes, but her young heart is being drawn by the Savior to discover mysteries far beyond her years. What is tribulation, and must we go through it to enter the kingdom of God? Always the “odd one out” as the middle child, Betty’s joy knows no bounds when a holiday in the country brings an unexpected companion. But when tragedy strikes, will her tender heart trust the wisdom and comfort of her sovereign heavenly Father? Is He answering her prayers in a way she could not have imagined? You will delight in Betty’s sweet frankness as she wins and influences friends on her journey to learn how she can be sure of her salvation.

Another Sweet Story From the Author of Teddy’s Button This is only my second Lamplighter book (we have listened to a few of the audio dramas also and greatly enjoyed). This was such a sweet and compelling story about a girl who feels like the “odd one” in her family. Betty is worried that she will not go to heaven because she has not yet experienced tribulation. Some wonderful conversation starters in this book and a thoroughly enjoyable story.

Beautiful Story What a beautiful little story! It evoked quite the spectrum of emotions: I found myself alternately laughing out loud and crying.
This is one of the best of Amy Le Feuvre’s books, in my opinion.
I truly believe this story will touch every heart in some way, as it includes examples of selfishness and pride, but also humility and surrender in a way that is truly beautiful and memorable.
I highly recommend it, and I think it would be suitable both as a read aloud for young children as well as personal reading for all ages through adults.
