Roycroft School for Boys
Author: Elbert Hubbard

In the 19th century, a unique educational experiment was underway. This rare document discloses an educational model that placed character first, with equal time given to the development of skills and study. Following is a glimpse of the wisdom contained on its pages: “The boy is not merely getting ready to live. He is living now; he is making himself useful; he is doing something for somebody. And this is the first, last and one great lesson we must all learn, that success lies in doing something for somebody.”

Interesting Read I expected a book that was more of a story; this book is more of an informative book on how to educate boys and the reasons why. As a teacher, I found this interesting and helpful. It has given me a new insight into boys’ learning styles and what I can do to direct and strengthen them into Godly young men.
However, this is not a good read aloud book for children. I discovered this in the car during a 10 hour road trip! Incidentally, it has not diminished my personal enjoyment of this book.

Recommended As a homeschooling mom it is always nice to learn how others have taught. This book really helped me to focus on teaching them how to love the work they do and how important it is to be outside!
