The four Dane sisters must leave the home in which they have been raised. Though their cousin secretly convinces his aunt to revise her will shortly before her death, they will not leave empty-handed! Aunt Mildred has provided a modest annual stipend for each sister and their godly nurse Nannie gives each sister a special verse from Psalm 37. Only a small country home is within their means, so Gwen finds the perfect little cottage for them. But the owner imposes one mysterious condition: a beautifully carved cupboard in his study must never be opened by the new tenants! What secret hides within the carved cupboard? Will Nannie’s scripture provide the key to unlock it? As you discover the answers to these questions, you will also learn key lessons with Agatha, Gwen, Clare and Elfie: to commit your way to the Lord, and to trust and rest and delight in Him.

Great Morals! I thought the book started a little slow but I ended up getting so intrigued that I couldn’t put it down. I have learned so much about the Bible verses that each girl received. Psalms 37 now has more meaning to me!

A Fast Paced Adventure This is the perfect book to read if you have just finished with a very long book and want a story that does not make you wait long to find out what happens. It is exciting, and it doesn’t take long to read. By the end of the book, I was very fond of Agatha, Gwen, Clare and Elfie. Each girl had a different lesson to learn, and a different battle to fight, as they live in the house with the mysterious locked cupboard, which seems to draw such attention from mysterious places. It challenges us in our own lives to see whether we are giving ourselves to the Lord or trusting our own way.

Loved It! I think this is my newest Lamplighter favorite! I could identify with each girl and loved the challenge of their verses. An excellent read.

The Locked Cupboard I enjoyed the book, The Locked Cupboard; although, I was wishing that it had more mystery and suspense.

But over all, I thought it was a very good book.

Highly Recommend This Book I loved this book and was hard to put down, so I read it in two evenings. How the Hand of God worked in the lives of the characters in the book and how they sought Him was so uplifting. Will definitely reread this one. God Has His protective hand over us and even works through wrong decisions we make in life as we keep our focus on HIM!!!!!!!

Good, But Not My Favorite This book was good. It was well-written and captivating, but in a way it was anticlimactic, and I couldn’t help but feel some disappointment. Still, the message of striving to live for Christ and walk in obedience is there and it is full of good Scripture references. I couldn’t help but be endeared to the twin sisters that Agatha, Gwen, Clare and Elfie befriend. They are such a funny pair! I definitely recommend it.

Highly Recommended I really enjoyed this story. It is written in a style that reminds me of something like Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
