Idols of the Heart

Already a rift is forming, and Lady Selina is secretly satisfied. Poor Clemence had not even entered the home of her soon-to-be stepchildren and had no idea that a great manipulator was setting the stage for disaster!
Her blunders and inexperience with an affluent lifestyle bring unfamiliar anxiety to Clemence. How will she cope with the escalating tension, the maddening hypocrisy she faces every day?
A tragic accident changes everything, and God’s tender Word takes the forefront. For “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul; or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Clemence decides to do the right thing, and poverty becomes the channel by which the riches of God’s grace change debilitating bitterness to joy.

Lesson to Learn There’s a number of lessons learned in this book. One about standing for what is right in the face of adversity. Another about setting your heart on the things of this world. And still another about the words we say about others. Great story content.

This book was phenomenal!!! I heard from a friend that they were enjoying it so I decided to pick it up! I am so glad that I did! The way that A.L.O.E. builds each of the characters into who they become and how all of them, no matter how good and virtuous they are, still struggle with some sort of idol in their hearts was very interesting and thought provoking! What was also very intriguing was watching how different the characters responded to their idols and the way that their lives were molded around them or, if their idol was put to death, they were able to live for Christ! This novel is a must read and I highly recommend it as one of the authors more thought provoking works!
