Self-Raised is part of the Classic Collection

Southworth continues the story of Ishmael Worth in Self-Raised. From the sultry heat of Cuba to the gloomy crags of northern Scotland, Ishmael stands resolute in his commitment to those he loves. Whether he is wrestling with the icy hand of death or carefully mending broken hearts, Ishmael is ever thinking of the welfare of those around him. You can always count on Ishmael to be the rock that others need to help them through the most difficult of trials. When you finally close the book, you will cry out in sorrow that there are no more pages to read on the life of this beloved young man.

For those interested in discovering the identity of the real Ishmael Worth, it is believed that Wendell Philips is the real Ishmael Worth. To read more about his life check out the following links:

Buy it, Period As was Ishmael, Self Raised is an excellent book. I think I may like it better in fact, and that’s saying something as we really really super enjoyed Ishmael!
Self Raised has some twists and turns and more suspense than Ishmael.
Highly recommend this set of books. And all Lamplighter’s materials. lol

Highly Recommended ! The Hidden Hand, Ishmael, and Self Raised are all
worth reading. Ishmael’s story is continued in Self Raised. E.D.E.N. Southworth’s use of Eternal principles are fresh today!
