Has someone crossed your path recently who might have needed your help? Were you paying attention closely enough to have noticed? This wonderful book from Harold Bell Wright is just as relevant in this century as it was to those to whom he was writing over 100 years ago. That tramp printer who ends up working for George Udell has much to teach us about living by an honor code. According to President Ronald Reagan, “That Printer of Udell’s had an impact I shall always remember… The term ‘role model’ was not a familiar term in that time and place. But I realize I found a role model in that traveling printer whom Harold Bell Wright had brought to life. He set me on a course I’ve tried to follow even unto this day. I shall always be grateful.”

Loved this book! What a refreshing read! I have liked Harold Bell right books, but hadn’t read this one. Very relevant to today’s culture.

Amazing!!! Absolutely loved it! Hard to put down. What a timely message for today’s church. Can’t say enough about it. Recommended by http://www.homeschool-your-boys.com.

Excellent Book I have read this book twice now, and it is one of the best books I have ever read. I enjoyed the story, but it also started me thinking about how I can help “the least of these” today.

Perfect For Boys. Great book! As pertinent for today as “Ancient Paths: Negotiating Life Wisely” by J.C. Ryle. The life changing commitment of Dick Falkner is encouraging and inspiring. Would give this to any person struggling with putting their faith in Jesus. If reading to younger children, would recommend proofreading to edit out/be prepared to explain content not seemly for younger ears.

Very Very Good Book!! This is a very good book! It shows us where we could do better as Christians in reaching the “least of these” and also not to be just church members but active Christians!!!

That Printer Of Udell’s Love this book and the values it teaches! I could not put it down till the end. I was raised in a class society so I could relate very well with this book and it is sad that even Christians would live this way. Please read this book and you will start a collection of Lamplighter series.

A Detailed and Meaningful Story This book is written with beautiful wording and description. It condemns judging a man by his appearance, where he is from, or his social standing. It reveals how the Lord has no respect of persons and neither should we.
It shows how the Lord can reveal his glorious purpose as he uses a man who he lifts above his previous circumstances. Also, it shows how often times those who claim to be righteous often have God as the one farthest away from their interests.

A Wonderful Book I love this book and the values it teaches. As the book of James in the Bible instructs not to show favoritism towards the wealthy as God has chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith.

Fantastic Read This was an amazing read. I did not expect the twists and turns that drew me into it’s pages. I thought several times I had figured out the story and it surprised me. This is a book worth your time, with great lessons for us all.

Practical Christianity Needed Today! This book was the most convicting, challenging Lamplighter book I’ve read yet. There are many quotes out of it’s pages that I like to pass along. It was such a good story. I can see how Ronald Reagan was impacted by it. I know I was. I will certainly pass this along to my children and grandchildren (if the Lord tarries that long) and lend it to any friend wanting to read it. It’s amazing how relevant it is today, well over 100 years after its first publication. It comes highly recommended by me!

Loved It! Thoroughly enjoyed the story. It hits on an issue that’s been on my heart for the last few years: the church is more content to be a social club than to actually do the work of Christ. A very good story with plenty of plot twists and a clear lesson to teach. Probably best for ages 13+ as there are descriptions of various vices, though nothing explicit.

That Printer of Udell’s. I’m not sure that there has been a time in the history of this country when this message is more needed, as we deal with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, racial challenges, political unrest and an overall lack of integrity and values in many of our leaders. This wonderful book calls each of us a return of common (yet so uncommon) biblical Christian values. While this points to the inadequacies of “the church”, that message can be applied to all institutions that fail to lift, to succor and to assist the downtrodden who desire to work and to improve their lot but, for one reason or another, are
up against a wall.” I see why Ronald Reagan was so touched by the message of this book.

A GEM I was anticipating reading this book after reading the summary. What a delight! It did not disappoint. I’m so thankful I got it on the subscription plans and it is probably one of my favorite books from here. I could not put it down and stayed up late in the night wanting to finish it. I had an engagement the following day so I could not but I finished it afterwards. It truly causes us to examine self and make sure we are not hoarding up treasures here on earth vs giving to the needy. I also really enjoyed the twist of fate of Amy. It shows how a believer can backslide if they aren’t abiding in Christ and that the only way to walk the narrow path is by following Him and His Grace. It’s not about where you start but it’s about the direction you are going. Are we walking in the right path (JESUS)? I would recommend this book. Though, it seems many of the old writers did not have a belief in non resistance as the new covenant teaches. There’s a few scenes with violence in the name of protection and self defense. God did not teach us this in His New covenant. Otherwise, for the discerning Christian, it is possible to “overlook” this and realize they may have lacked that understanding…

Highly Recommend This book is beautiful like all of their books! The attention to detail always amazes me! It’s bound in imitation leather with a beautiful design embossed onto the cover! I look forward to reading another old story brought back to life by Lamplighter!

    Wonderful!
I’m a lover of history, and I originally wanted to get this book because of the connection with Ronald Reagan. The story and the message were wonderful! It was inspiring as well. Another great book from Lamplighter!
