Deep into the Vale of Promise ventures Sir Constant, a young knight who desires nothing more than to be in the service of the Great King. Though unworthy of this high calling, he sets forth on the Splendid Way—the perilous road that all who desire to serve the King must take. His faith and valor will be tested, his strength and endurance will be challenged, and his allegiance to the one true King will be proven. A rich allegory wrought with biblical truth.

Powerful Allegory We are reading this for our evening devotions. Similar to John Bunyon’s Pilgrims Progress, focusing on many common spiritual experiences and behind the scenes events that await the true Christian. Virtues of hard work, courage and fearless are extolled, but also the finer virtues of grace, mercy, tender entreaty, and compassion. Excellent read solo or with the family ages 6+

Indeed a Masterpiece I loved this book! Thank you for putting in print another timeless piece of literature! Sir Knight of the Splendid Way is a exciting book that reflects many important Scriptural truths, and I took away a lot from it. This book in many ways will help you meditate on the Christian journey of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Beautiful and True This story is a beautiful illustration of the Lords undying love. It teaches us that whenever we fall, whenever we stumble, whenever we stray, He will still love us. And if we have faith in Him, He will always be there. May we all live in the City of the Great King forever!

Stirring Story!!! I love this book! It might be my favorite Lamplighter ever and one of my favorite books completely. The first time I read it I cried about five times. Sir Constant is such a good character and the King was portrayed beautifully. The ending was so breathtaking and moving and as a teenager, this book shows me valuable lessons as I walk the Splendid Way. I wish that everyone could read this book.

Highly Recommended!! Very encouraging, my husband and I think this book is a excellent allegory of the Christian life. I would put it up there with Pilgrim’s Progress, except that it’s a bit lighter reading and much more child friendly. Sir Knight of the Splendid Way is a book worth buying.

Highly Recommended Wonderful book, my husband and I are reading this and it’s a clear allegory of the Christian life. I appreciate the fact that it’s more appropriate for children than some of the other Christian allegories I have read over the years, yet it speaks to adults as well. I’m proud to own this book.

Sir Knight of the Splendid Way I greatly enjoyed reading this book! The travels of Sir Knight as he goes through each place that is laid out for him is amazing. I am currently re-reading the book out loud to the whole family. Thank you for doing what you do to further the advancement of the gospel IN THE KINGS NAME!

My Favourite Lamplighter Book Ever! I discovered my absolute favourite Lamplighter book, and I am SO glad that I did! This book, so similar to Pilgrim’s Progress, yet so different, quickly became a beloved book, and I have no doubt I will read it often. The allegory, that was so very rich in beautiful scriptural truths, was such a blessing, and I cried so many times as I read through this one!
I wish this book were more widely known, and I know that I will be handing out my copy to friends to read, it was that good! I am so very thankful Lamplighter has republished this little gem!

One of My Favorites My brother gave me this book for Christmas a while back and I read it to him. Sir Knight of the Splendid Way is one of the best books I have ever read. It is more of a boys book, but girls would enjoy it as well. Lamplighter does a very good job with their publishing.

Very Encouraging Story! For the most part, I enjoyed this book! I love books about knights and adventure, and this one had both, with a really clear Christian message to boot! I also was glad there was no romance in this book, as I’m very picky with romance, and it’s seldom I find a book without romance in it. So that was also a plus for me personally. The commitment of the main character to Christ was also something I really liked, and it has encouraged me personally to evaluate my own life and see if I can’t work on becoming a better Christian myself.

There were a couple negatives about the book though for me. The beginning was a little confusing, trying to figure out what all the allegorical symbols meant, but as I read along, they gradually came to me. The confusing timing and uneven transitions were the main issue I had with this book, but I’m hoping when I listen to the corresponding dramatic audio CDs, it will smooth out those spots! However, because of the confusion they caused me, it has made me rate this book at four stars.

Would I recommend this book? For anyone who enjoys reading allegorical books set in a medieval time, written in Old English, and with a strong Christian message, a resounding yes!

My New Favorite Book This book was absolutely phenomenal. Like Pilgrims Progress it is a great allegory for the Christian walk, but unlike PP, it is a simple story and the concepts are easy to understand. I will absolutely read this to my kids and to my grandkids. This is a novel I can see myself reading every single year. It is rich with good morals and Christ centered themes. I will recommend this book to everyone. And whats not to love about chivalry and knights!
