Disappointed I love all things Lamplighter and I was very excited to get these. However I was disappointed. The quality is nothing like Lamplighter Theater. If they would have stuck more to the Biblical text it would have been better but there’s not a lot to dramatize in Genesis 1-5.

I was not a fan that they put words in God’s mouth that are not in the Bible. If that doesn’t bother your conscience then you’ll probably enjoy these but be warned it adds stuff and for young children I don’t think that’s wise. They don’t know what’s actually in the Bible and what’s not. So make sure you have your Bible in your hand while listening at first. Some things are very subtle but changed. For example in Genesis 2:17 God tells Adam not to eat from the tree and when Eve talks with the serpent she adds or touch it. In this audio drama they have God saying you shall not eat or touch it not Eve.

Not for a Sensitive Child My 7 year old son was in tears and disturbed by this audio. It was the sound of the serpents voice that startled him and also the story of Cain and Abel. I also do not like when audio make up the sound of Gods voice. It makes a personal loving God sound stern and robotic. My 9 and 12 year old were entertained but I wish I had previewed this before they listened. I trusted the source. Next time I will listen myself first.

CREATION My family also loves and appreciates LAMPLIGHTER products. This was a bit of a disappointment, though. I was expecting more majesty and fanfare during the creation section. More word pictures. It was too short. Can you just imagine the sights and sounds when God said those “Let there be’s”? Humanly, there may be no way to capture those moments when there was just God.
It took a second listening to understand the story intro with the time clock going backwards. At least that’s how I interpreted it. I certainly would not to discourage the writers in any way and I hope this will constructive.
