Highly Recommended! This story is a continual reminder to me and a byword in our family now, that even when circumstances seem to be inexplicably irritating and a hindrance to our plans, we need to trust God and rest peacefully and contentedly in His providence that all things are truly for our good – even when we do not understand or appreciate them at the moment. Excellent Highly Recommend! We listened to our first story while on the way to our cottage in Canada. It was presented EXCELLENTLY and we so enjoyed the accents used by performers. We could picture ourselves being in the story! It made our trip of 11 hours go much quicker. Thank you for presenting such inspiring messages in your story!

I Couldn’t Stop Listening! I listened to this story with my 5 year old son.We both couldn’t stop listening. I loved the story and the many truths about God and us that were said. It was great for my son to hear it and learn about the lessons that the main character learned, especially as he is the oldest and a big brother to little sisters. I am glad we can listen to it again and again over the years to help teach character.

Very Highly Recommended Our family loves all the lamplighter books. The quality is exceptional and keeps us on the edge of our seats. We listen in the car, but sometimes I have to turn it off because it’s so engrossing and I have to drive.

Good Story This wasn’t our favorite lamplighter by a good stretch. That being said, this is STILL well worth listening to.Maybe this review will sound negative, but only because I’m comparing it to other fine Lamplighter Dramas.The hedge part I thought was a bit intense for my 8 year old daughter. Also, I’ve found that in any time there is a “commotion” or a fight of some kind it’s hard to understand what was going on. We all were confused on a few parts of this story.
The moral of the story definitely comes across, perhaps even a bit too strong to make it believable and memorable. All that said, this still gets 4 stars from me, and definitely a good one for a road trip. Turn off the DVD player and turn on the Lamplighter Theatre! It’s better for your kids and for you!

Great Story Our family enjoys listening to Audio Stories, especially great ones like The Hedge of Thorns. The kids were engaged and wanted to talk about different situations in their lives when they made bad choices and the consequences they suffered from it.

Give it My Highest Recommendation The Hedge of Thorns has a great message for all who listen. It has such a powerful message, that in June, for our VBS, I handed it out as a prize that had to do with my lesson. Thank you Lamplighter for all the work you do to send the truth to the world!

Fabulous This was the first Lamplighter story we read and now we have revisited it through this audio drama. It is just as good as we remembered. The additional bit of story with the host Phinean Jones added to the entertainment and drives the main point with an example of application.

Too Violent for Young Listeners I believe the appropriate age for this audio book should be at least 8 years of age. There are many graphic, violent occurrences throughout this recording which troubled my children terribly (ages 7 and almost 6). While there are rich opportunities to discuss the many unwise decisions of the characters, which lead to terrible (often extreme) consequences, the violence overshadows them…from a young girls screams of pain and terror, to the cries of her brother experiencing and suffering a broken leg, to the death of at least 3 people; darkness, dread, and pain color what could be a magnificent lesson of biblical characteristics.

Wonderfully Engaging! Recommended! Highly recommended. Wonderful story, several characters. Deals with life lessons and hardships and how God works out a hedge of protection for us despite our perceived troubles. The Treasure of the Secret Cove is also recommended.

Safety in Boundaries As children we never understood why can’t we?? This story gives a great foundation for children to begin to understand why
“No” can be such a loving word and needs to be taken seriously. Wish I’d heard this story as a child. Might have helped me be a bit less willful.

Recommended For Older Children I enjoyed listening to this story of the importance of making God your foundation, obeying His leading, and trusting in the counsel of your parents. How very important is one’s choice of putting others first, yet choosing well the company we keep…one simple choice may afford affects that can last a lifetime! I recommended it for older children simply because of the depths of the lessons along with the prospective fear factor on younger children during intense scenes. A plethora of lessons worthy of exploring altogether.
