Lucy is so close to her family that it would break her heart to be separated from them. Yet if she is to regain her health, she must leave her loved ones, along with the many responsibilities she fulfills, and try to rest. With Lucy’s journey come new trials. On more than one occasion you will want to rescue her and give Miss Prigott a piece of your mind!
While many would buckle under daily oppression, Lucy becomes stronger. She is encouraged by her mother’s teaching, “Almost anyone can run away from temptation. It is far nobler, and requires a higher degree of strength, to meet and conquer it.” With a determined spirit Lucy regains more than just her health.

Looking Forward To It! I haven’t read this book yet. 🙁 I have, however, read Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss which is probably one of the best books for a Christian girl. Thanks Lamplighter!

Comfortable Troubles I had high expectations for this book to be like Stepping Heavenward, also by author and hymn writer Elizabeth Prentiss. I was a little disappointed on how there didn’t seem to be a main plot or conflict. It seemed to just be the life of a girl who had a couple troubles here and there. It was a good book and had good spiritual lessons, but it didn’t catch my interest.

Highly Recommended The story was a wonderful story. However, there were three spots in the book that did not print. I did call and you are sending another one out. Hats off to quick customer service.

Excellent I so enjoyed this book, I have read Stepping Heavenward as well from the same author and I think this ranks right up there with that one. I could really relate to the character and I have been challenged. Highly recommended for young women.

Another enjoyable tale from Elizabeth Prentiss Don’t expect the same level of Christian instruction in this book as Stepping Heavenward. I have enjoyed Elizabeth Prentiss’ other stories, and this was no exception. It reminds me of a sort of “The Little Preacher” with a female protagonist. Very good.

Life Changer Loved this book and the message. All of our trials are an opportunity for God to show His Glory in our lives when we keep our focus on Him. A chance to Grow in Grace.

Comfortable Troubles What a book to read when one is burdened with cares. How often we rely on our own strength when God is there waiting for us to get our strength from Him. Lucy shows the way in this book. A wonderful inspiring story.

Highly Recommended This little treasure reminds us that God wants your heart, my heart … not in part, but the whole!

Life Changing! Our 16 and 14-year-old both daughters read this book within days of receiving it in the mail. With tears in their eyes and begging me to read it, too, they both said the book was life changing. They said they would never be the same after reading it! We are now reading it aloud to the entire family. Thank you, Lamplighter, for sharing these treasures!

Do You Lead A Busy Life? At the outset of the story I was captivated by the authors ability to capture the mundane yet busy pace of a large family. Coming from a large family myself, it was refreshing to be apart of the family and of the oft times, unappreciated self sacrifice that goes on. In this story, the family’s personal self sacrifice hones each Christ like nature. Sure to be soothing balm, in a day and age when we rush by personal self-sacrifice and suffering as of no benefit nor result.

Highly Recommended! I love how this book pushes you to stay close to Christ in all things. I love the faith Lucy has and how she strives to be Christlike even when it’s hard. I had started reading my mom’s copy and quickly got my own after only reading half the book.
