Mystery and love combine to bring a captivating story in The Chateau by the Lake. Norah and her fiancé Roger have much to discover about each other—and themselves! While he’s serving in India, Norah agrees to leave English society and move to the Swiss countryside to live with his mother. There the dark puzzle unfolds and her spiritual journey begins.

Words from the blue velvet book that Roger gave her echo in her mind as she sorts through her mysterious encounters: The things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

In due time Norah realizes that forgiveness and eternal life come from the cross—you can’t work for forgiveness, you work from it.

Inspiring I loved reading this book, so inspiring and challenging to learn to trust in the Lord, and seeing how He worked in the lives of the people in the story. I love Lamplighter books and Amy is one of my favorite authors. It keeps your attention, and the sacrifice others make that they think is best for others, and how God will work and turn it around to His best

Chateau by the Lake I don’t have the time to read right now but am saving the Lamplighter books to give as gifts as I trust their content and quality.

Intriguing Mystery Set in the Swiss Alps, this book pretty much has it all. High drama and simple every day life meld into a beautiful tale of intrigue, betrayal, sacrifice, and love.
The author takes full advantage of the setting to introduce us to the natural beauty of the area while employing her trademark ability to teach lasting lessons without in the least coming across as preachy. We see both beauty and ugliness, that which is base in human character and that which is noble.
    I enjoyed it immensely.

It’s a Winner! This one is another on my favorites list! Full of mystery, intrigue, suspense and just enough romance to make it a beautiful love story. Amy LeFeuvre has a writing style that just draws you in. Her character development is spot-on with some comical communication from those who don’t speak the language well. It adds to the comedic relief in the story. I love how Amy has a way of weaving Scripture through her stories in a way that just flows along and makes sense. I was carried along in my imagination through this story as if watching it in the theater of my mind. I can almost see the lake, the mountains and flowers in the garden… Such a beautiful setting! This book will be treasured in my household. I can hardly wait for my children to read it!

Greatly Enjoyed I just finished reading this book earlier this week, and it holds a special place in my heart. The Lord used reading about Norah’s experience of learning that “you can’t work for forgiveness, you have to work from it,” to teach me how to appropriate with my heart what I have so long mentally assented to. God’s grace is fully mine. The story is not overly original or fast paced (although I had a hard time setting it down once I reached the climax), but the character’s spiritual development is deeply encouraging. As described, it is the story of a young couple and would probably be best suited for a teenage or young adult reader.

A Quaint and Delightful Story I enjoyed this book and the lessons of God’s sovereignty and submission to it learned along the way through the author’s weaving truth with fiction. I buy 3 books for myself every Christmas, wrap them and put them under the tree. As an adult, I treasure these books with good characters and biblical truths.

Wonderful Story I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Amy Le Feuvre has been my favorite author for a while. I rejoice with Norah as she experiences the beauties of Switzerland and learns that you cannot appreciate the Bible or the things of God until you know him personally. I cringe from the misunderstanding that takes place and the lack of trust that causes her pain. Altogether, the story is full of mystery, love, and a moral that if you don’t understand someone you know to be trustworthy, give them the benefit of the doubt.

WOW! I personally have not read this book, but it was gift for my daughter’s birthday and she read the book in 2 days, only because she had to go to bed. Her expressions of excitement gave me the impression that she LOVED the book. She even volunteered to read it to her younger siblings. We love Lamplighter books, this is another gem added to the collection.

    Good! Love the ending.
I read the Secret Bridge, then Treasure of the Secret Cove and last this one. The Secret Bridge was my favorite, then Treasure[…] and this. I found the book hard to get into at first. The first couple of pages are interesting with Roger planting the seed in his bride for her need of Christ. Then, he leaves for war and the story slows down with lots of beautiful descriptions of the swiss place Norah is in and the little mystery begins….Where the other books I finished in a day due to non stop reading, this took me longer…but when I got to the middle of the book, the excitment picked up. It was lovely and then BOOM something happens and made me not want to continue reading it..but, needing closure, I decided I would finish the book and I am so glad I did. The mystery was good. There is 3 love stories in one book, that are kept pure. Norah gets saved and grows in her faith…Roger, seems to truly know God apart from military service….wonderful book if you can persevere…

Should Be Made Into A Mini-Series! This book was awesome! When I finished reading it I thought my mom would really like it so I shared it with her. It was funny because she would get so into the story that she made me read like four chapters in a row! We finished it yesterday and Mom said it was beautiful.:) If you like romance stories this comes highly recommended!

Whew! Amy Le Fevure strikes again! Beautiful story with unexpected twists! I figured out part of the mystery way before it was revealed, but I never expected Norah to react the way she did….:) If you haven’t read very much, you might not figure it out though.
The characters are delightful, and by the end if the story I felt I had met them myself!
    I highly suggest this masterpiece!
